Message: I am interested in publishing some chess games (both GK and other) as part of a website. I have used a couple of pgn to web type editors to produce the webpages, but would be interested in peoples views of any such editors they have had experience of.
I have not found one with which I am completely happy - they are all good in some ways, but the ones I have tried have caused me more problems than I would like!!
Thanks for any assistance.

Message: Thanks for the suggestion. I enjoy much of the content on chessgames.com, it's an excellent chess resource. However, I do not believe it has software to enable me to publish chess games of my choice on websites otehr than chessgames itself - this is what I actually want to do.
Cheers

——— Medieval Foes With Whimsy — If, by some typically improbable turn of events, Homer Simpson were to unearth from his backyard an old chest containing a chess set from medieval times, what would the chess pieces look like? Chances are they would resemble the lovable little contestants beautifully carved from walrus tusks by anonymous artisans in the famous cache known as the Lewis Chessmen. Except for the pawns, which are shaped like tombstones and dome-topped, octagonal towers, each king, queen, bishop, knight and warder, as rooks used to be called, has the bug-eyed, stupefied expression of a Simpson. They could be Homer’s ancestors. You can judge for yourself: 34, all from the British Museum, are in “The Game of Kings: Medieval ...

Rocomendations? - no chess engines, please... [let's be far from that evil] ——— 2011 Tal Memorial — I am reporting from the 2011 Tal Memorial, held Nov. 16-26 in Moscow. I am also 10 hours later than my St. Louis readers, so that means I am reporting from the future! The Tal Memorial is named after Mikhail Tal, the eighth World Chess Champion and a Soviet chess legend. This prestigious event features 10 chess players, all grandmasters, in a round-robin format, and this field is quite possibly the strongest of any chess tournament, ever. The players in the event, and their rating/world rank according to FIDE, the World Chess Federation, are as follows: Magnus Carlsen: 2826 (1), Viswanathan Anand: 2811 (2), Levon Aronian: 2802 (3), Vladimir Kramnik: 2800 (4), Vassily Ivanchuk ...

Message: Wish I could remember more about it, as it was in the 90's and someone I knew had a setup where their chesscomputer board would input games to their Pc for publishing. I think that it went into ChessBase or if not, then BookUp. So that just by reviewing the game on their board, for errors and content, it would be all ready to reprint for publication. Believe it was J.F.Campbell or Don Maddox that used it, who should both be contactable via Google search. The former does The Campbell Report; & the latter edited Chess Life, ran LeisureLinc and now has a site. Both wrote for APCT, as did Jim Marfia who would be the only other possible for it. Believe it was Campbell tho.
Can anyone recall the name of that sensor board? Lorenzo? Leonardo? No that's not right. Some oneword name. Does anyone recall that setup? It sounded very nice at the time. I'm not aware if it analyzed in the process, but that was beside the point if so.
When I edited Metro Chess, so very much time went into game score verification, then typing afterward ... I would have loved to find this under my Christmas tree !
... }8-) ——— Armenia's killer chess move — Bravo to the former Soviet republic for putting chess on the curriculum. But beware – this game is more compelling than life. I have diverted myself briefly from playing online chess to write this. I've been keeping a log of the games I've played this week, and they number more than 60. At some point in the last five years, mainly thanks to the fact that chess and the internet are made for each other, I became a chess obsessive. Those 64 squares in which a life-and-death battle are waged have become the cornerstone of my existence. In this, I like to think I am in good company. "Chess is my world," said the former Soviet world chess champion Mikhail Tal. "Not a house, not a fortress where I hide myself from life's hardship, but ...

Good luck. ——— Armenia makes chess compulsory in schools — Authorities say teaching pastime to primary school children is about building character, not breeding future chess champions. Tiny Armenia is a big player in world chess, and a new gambit could make it even bigger: mandatory chess in school. The former Soviet nation has made the game part of the primary school curriculum along with such standards as maths and history for children between the ages of seven and nine. Chess is a national obsession in this country of 3 million people tucked away in a corner between Turkey and Iran. The passion was fostered in modern times by the exploits of chess champion Tigran Petrosian, who won the world chess championship in 1963 and successfully defended his title three years ...

Message: -> www.enpassant.dk ——— On Chess: Underdog Israelia threat to Anand — Boris Gelfand, an Israeli chess grandmaster born in the former Soviet republic of Belarus, has had a singular career. In 21 years of tournament play, excelling at both traditional and rapid chess, he has won, finished second or tied for second in 43 of 52 tournaments. Yet he hasn’t been able to gain the title of world chess champion. Seeming to improve with age, Gelfand achieved his best result in 2007 when he tied for second with the then-reigning world chess champion, Vladimir Kramnik. The world title tournament was won by Viswanathan Anand, who remains world chess champion. In the spring, Gelfand will square off with Anand in a match for the title. Gelfand stands in sharp contrast to his ...

11/17/2005 06:19:04 Play online chess | Some hints on publishing...
Message: Hi Chris,
Just like you I've probably searched all the web for those programs and probably just like you, none of them is offering me full satisfaction.
Yet I can advise you a few things:
With chessprograms like Fritz8 you can publize your games. Advantage: nice lay out, easy to drop in variations and make comments in it, less good is the fact that it's less easy to incorporate it in your web pages (according to me).
Another way to incorporate your games is via the website of ICC. You copy paste your pgn and they create the viewer, which afterwards is easy to incorporate in your website.
-> www.chessclub.com
Even if you don't know too much about programming, you can change the lay a bit (color of squares), you can always see an example on my website:
-> users.skynet.be
maybe this helps you a bit!
cheers,
Odonata
