I recently warded off an odd counter for the Sicilian, called the Grand Prix Attack: 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.f4?! was an interesting start to a chess game, but is it really all that sound?
It just seems... wrong, somehow.

This is actually the correct order of the grand prix for the type of game white is aiming for, so its: 3) f4!? rather than ?!.
1) e4 c5 2) f4?! allows 2) ... d5! immediately. 3) ed Nf6, and if white tries to hold the pawn with 4) c4, ...e6! gives black excellent initiative for the pawn and white's opening scheme looks ridiculous.
The 2) Nc3 w/f4 move order inhibits ...d5 on black's part, which is why it is preferred by such players as Roman Dzhininasvilli (sp). Bent Larsen used to play this too.
