After 1e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 Nf6 4.0-0 Nxe4 5.d4..
Can someone tell me why it's dangerous for black to play 5...exd4? It's apparently because of 6. Re1!
But after using gameknots analyse the board feature I can find a way everytime for black to keep his knight. Am I missing something?

Sort of. You're missing that White has the potential to build up a dangerous attack. After 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nf6 4. O-O Nxe4 5. d4 exd4?! 6. Re1:
6... f5?! 7. Nxd4 Nxd4 8. Qxd4 c6 9. f3 (this is the theme; striking at the pinned knight with an f3 pawn thrust) cxb5 10. exf4 with a dangerous attack against Black's king.
6... d5 (the better try, but self-pinning the c6-knight) 7. Nxd4 (now White is threatening both Nxc6 AND f3, extremely dangerous for Black) Bd6! (The key. Black can't meet both threats, so he ignores them both and tries to hold the position by counterattacking) 8. Nxc6 Bxh2+ 9. Kh1 Qh4 10. Rxe4+ dxe4 11. Qd8+ Qxd8 12. Nxd8+ Kxd8 13. Kxh2 and White stands better.
